The Role of a Club Committee Member

Club Committee Members are vital volunteers who manage events and maintenance, representing the membership with their skills and time. They are elected annually at the AGM, with additional members joining through existing Committee votes.

The Role of a CWMC Club Committee Member

Introduction

CWMC Club Committee Members are essential volunteers who help in every aspect of running the Club from organising and running events, to completing small maintenance tasks. Committee Members provide a valuable input into the operations of the Club, representing the membership in bringing their knowledge, skills and time. Without the Committee Members, the Club doesn’t run. 

Each year the Club Committee Members are voted in at the AGM. During the year, additional Members may join the Committee at the vote of the existing Committee.

Contract

This is a voluntary position. 

Responsibilities

The following duties are responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, are outlined below (click a heading to expand that section):

  • Attend Committee Meetings as required, providing notice if unable to attend. 
  • Always maintain a professional conduct and listen to other members views. Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Take up tasks as directed by the Committee, be accountable for delivering. 
  • Deputise for and support Senior Committee Member posts when required. 
  • Respect the Confidential nature of the Committee Meetings. 

  • Take an active role in promoting the Club and attracting new members.
  • Represent the Membership of the Club, bringing their ideas and suggestions to the Committee. 
  • Maintain impartiality. 
  • Together with the Committee, ensure that any proposal to change the membership costs or structure is communicated to the membership and proposed at the AGM in line with the Club Constitution and Rules.
  • The Club operates a zero tolerance to bullying and anti-social behaviour. Ensure that the Club is a safe environment for all (Members, Staff, Visitors). 

  • If you are volunteering to run or assist a Club event, do so in a professional manner. 
  • If you are volunteering to complete any tasks for the Club, only do so if you are qualified or competent to do so. 
  • Complete all work to your highest standard. You are a representative of the Club at all times.
