Introduction
The Club President of CWMC is the public face of the Club providing essential leadership and oversight responsibilities to the Committee and Membership. The President ensures the Club operates within its established rules and constitution, fosters and promotes a positive environment, and represents the Club as required at any events or functions both internal and external. The President deputises for the Club Secretary when required.
Each year the Club President is nominated and voted into post at the Clubs AGM.
Contract
This is a voluntary position.
Responsibilities
The following duties are responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, are outlined below (click a heading to expand that section):
- Attend and Chair the Committee Meetings. Ensure members are given the opportunity to voice their individual opinions in a safe and open environment. Ensure the meeting remains on topic in order to keep to time.
- Manage the Committee to ensure all members are held accountable for any Actions received by the Committee and these are carried out to a successful completion.
- Deputise for the Secretary when required. Should this be for an extended period of time, then the Committee will meet to discuss any relevant renumeration.
- Ensure that the Meeting Minutes are published within 72 hours of the meeting taking place by the individual tasked to record and produce them.
- Provide support to the Club Secretary in the Management of Staff. This may include providing an independent witness or taking meeting minutes in support of any individual meetings.
- Attend the Club AGM:
- Approve the proposed Agenda from the Club Secretary.
- Chair the AGM.
- Ensure any individuals issued Actions from the AGM are held accountable for delivering those to a successful conclusion.
- The President does not have a vote on any matters discussed by the Committee. However, in the event of a tied vote, the President is able to cast a final vote.
- Act as the focal point to the Committee for the membership of the Club.
- Provide impartial guidance and oversight to any disputes or concerns raised by the membership or Club staff. Maintain the confidentiality of the membership.
- Together with the Committee, ensure that the annual membership costs for members is advertised and actioned in a timely manner.
- Together with the Committee, ensure that any proposal to change the membership costs or structure is communicated to the membership and proposed at the AGM in line with the Club Constitution and Rules.
- The Club operates a zero tolerance to bullying and anti-social behaviour. Ensure that the Club is a safe environment for all (Members, Staff, Visitors).
- Periodically check the membership suggestion box and communicate to the Committee any relevant notifications or suggestions and the Committee meetings. Maintain the Confidence of the Membership.
- Take an active role in promoting the Club and attracting new members.
- Own the Club Constitution and Rules.
- Ensure the Constitution and Rules are up to date and in line with any new UK legislation or guidance from the CUI. Ensure any such changes are made in accordance with the Constitution and Rules.
- Ensure that an electronic copy of the Constitution and Rules are available within the Clubs filling system (for the Secretary) and a physical copy is available in the Club for any members to review at any time.
- Together with the Club Treasurer, review and approve of any hours worked by the Club Secretary. Approve any additional paid hours requested.

- Maintain a record of the hours worked / paid for the Club Secretary and Club Treasurer roles.
- Together with the Club Secretary and Club Treasurer, periodically review will all staff (quarterly) the status of the Club to communicate the financial status, operations, and any such topics deemed of interest.
- Take ownership of the Clubs communication channels. This includes, but is not limited to, the Clubs Website, Social Media, Newsletters, Posters, Notice Boards and Committee Meetings Minutes.
- Ensure that all events open to members are communicated to the membership through the Clubs Communication channels. The preference is a rolling 3-month calendar in which any events within that period are sufficiently advertised to the membership.
- Ensure that any specific membership benefits are advertised to the membership through the Clubs Communication Chanels.
