There continues to be plenty happening behind the scenes at Chatteris Working Men’s Club, with progress on the brewery changeover, improvements around the building and an increasingly busy programme of events.
The latest Committee meeting took place on Thursday, September 17th, with several developments to report.

Batemans changeover moves forward
The Club is now progressing with the changeover to Batemans Brewery.
The beers and ciders have been selected and arrangements for the changeover are being put in place. Further information will be announced once the timetable has been confirmed. For now, check out the post about Hawkstone coming to Chatteris.
Fire alarm work completed
The new fire alarm system has now been fully installed and tested, including the Club flat.
It marks the completion of an important piece of work to bring the Club’s fire safety systems up to date.
There has been progress with the Club flat too. The Club now has the keys and only a relatively small amount of work is required before the property can be brought back into use.
Making events easier to book
The Events Team has now set up Ticket Tailor and Stripe, giving the Club the ability to offer online and on-premises ticketing for future events.
Depending on the event, this can include Early Bird, standard and door tickets, as well as group bookings.
It should make booking easier while also giving the Events Team a much clearer picture of numbers when planning events.
A busy few months ahead
There is already plenty going into the diary.
First up is the Chaos Crew Quiz Night on Friday 2 October, promising a quiz night with a slightly different flavour — plenty of fun and quite possibly a little chaos along the way.
That is followed by the After Dark Halloween Party on Saturday 31 October, before Gamers Day returns on Saturday 7 November.
Travis Graham will perform in the Lounge on Sunday 15 November, while DJ Vern will provide the entertainment for the Club’s Christmas Lights Switch On Disco 2026 on Saturday 28 November.
Looking further ahead, Brightside has confirmed availability for the Club’s New Year celebrations, with more details to follow once arrangements have been finalised.
The previously planned Psychic Medium Night event has also been rescheduled for 16 January 2027.
More ideas for the Events Hall
The Committee continues to explore ways of making greater use of the Events Hall.
Potential activities for children are being discussed with the Anglian Players, while conversations with the Young Farmers about possible joint events are continuing.
These discussions form part of the wider effort to make better use of the Club’s facilities and bring more activity into the building.
Improvements continue
Not everything happening around the Club is quite as visible as a new event or brewery changeover.
The dishwasher is being replaced following an assessment of the existing machine, while repairs to the Snooker Room continue to progress through the insurance claim process.
They may not be the glamorous jobs, but they are all part of steadily improving the Club and its facilities.
