💻 Stepping Into the Role
Since joining the Committee five months ago, I’ve somehow become the Club’s go-to for all things IT.
It’s been a role full of variety — sometimes challenging, often rewarding — and always keeping me on my toes.
📋 Bringing Order with Trello
One of the first priorities was getting us better organised behind the scenes.
Setting up Trello has given us a central space to track:
- Actions
- Ideas
- Issues
- Meeting agenda items
It’s already proving invaluable — keeping everyone aligned and making sure nothing gets lost or forgotten.
💼 Upgrading Our Tech
It’s not just software — there’s been plenty happening on the hardware side too.
So far, that’s included:
- Purchasing and setting up new laptops for the Secretary and Treasurer
- Reviewing what other team members need to work effectively
The aim is simple: make sure everyone has the right tools to do their job well.
🔐 Keeping Things Safe (and Accessible)
A big part of the role is striking the right balance between:
- Security – protecting important documents
- Accessibility – making sure the right people can get what they need
Getting this right is key to keeping the Club running smoothly and efficiently.
🛠️ More Than Just IT
The role doesn’t stop at screens and systems.
I’ve also joined a maintenance sub-committee, helping out with jobs around the Club, including:
- Replaced ceiling tiles above the bar and lounge are
- Fixing toilet door locks
- Replacing light diffusers in the function room
And, of course…
👉 Holding ladders and fixing computers — often at the same time.
🙌 Looking Ahead
It’s been a genuinely rewarding few months, and I’m proud to be playing a part in improving how the Club operates — both digitally and physically.
Looking forward to building on this and continuing to support the team wherever needed.
